The French magazine Oops! is paying for its mistake. The publication was ordered to pay Leonardo DiCaprio approximately $8,800 after printing a false story claiming the actor was expecting a child with singer Rihanna.

The May 13 issue claimed the "Umbrella" singer was pregnant and DiCaprio did not want anything to do with the child. The magazine's headline read, "Rihanna Pregnant With Leonardo's Baby: He Doesn't Want The Baby."

Gossip Cop reported that a French court ruled in favor of the 40-year-old "Wolf of Wall Street" actor and ordered the magazine to pay $8,800 in damages and legal fees. The publication was also ordered to note in a subsequent issue that the actor "prevailed" in court.

Oops! reportedly violated French's strict privacy laws by publishing private information about the actor's personal life and using photos of him on the street taken by paparazzi.

"We were totally expecting this decision, since in France when any magazine speaks about a celebrity's private life, the magazine is automatically condemned," said Frederic Truskolaski, an owner of Oops!

However, Truskolaski added he thinks DiCaprio's lawsuit was based on a "racial issue."

"DiCaprio almost systematically goes out with Aryan-type girls, always blonde hair," he said. "He could not stand the fact that our magazine was saying he was having a baby with a black girl."

Truskolaski went on to call the actor a "pervert" for only dating younger models.

The "Titanic" actor reportedly saw the magazine while in France for the Cannes Film Festival and asked his legal team to file a lawsuit against the publication, Gossip Cop previously reported. DiCaprio's original lawsuit was for $20,000 in damages and attorney fees, which is the maximum allowed under French law.
