'Rambo' Heading From Silver Screen To Television, But Will Sylvester Stallone Be Wearing The Bandanna?

Entertainment One and Avi Lerner and Nu Image are working out a deal to bring "Rambo" the action hero from the popularly violent action film franchise of the same name off of the big screen and onto the small screen.

Slyvester Stallone, is in talks to work with producers on the "Rambo" TV series on a creative level. He hasn't ruled out the possibility of reprising his role as the original John Rambo either. According to Variety Stallone has remarked to the press several times over the years that he'd be interested in reviving the franchise and character at some point in the future. However, the action hero has been busy putting his next project together, the star-studded third installment of the "Expendables" franchise.

Stallone did give John Rambo a revival in 2008 after twenty years away. The original film "First Blood" based on the 1972 novel of the same name by David Morrell, featured a Vietnam veteran who uses his skills in combat to take down a police officer after he arrests and abuses him. The film was so popular that it spawned three more sequels.

Under Entertainment One and Nu Image's deal, the group will develop the series and ship it around to networks both in the U.S. and abroad.

"I'm happy to be partnering with a prolific company like Entertainment One who has a track record of creating high quality programming for their broadcast partners around the world," commented Lerner, a producer who's previous action titles include the original "Rambo." "And I'm excited by the prospect of collaborating again with my good friend Sly for an encore in this next phase of the Rambo legacy."

Tell us what you think. Would you be interested in watching Rambo, scaled down to fit the small screen and run editor for television? Would you prefer John Rambo sticks to movies? Or do you simply want the franchise to end with 2008's "Rambo?"
