Sadly, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are ending their 10-year marriage.

The couple, who celebrated their anniversary Monday, announced in a joint statement Tuesday that the decision to end their marriage comes after careful consideration.

The two say they remain committed to co-parenting their three children—9-year-old Violet, 6-year-old Seraphina and 3-year-old Samuel.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the couple said in a statement to E! News. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children, whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. "

"This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding," said Affleck and Garner.

In recent weeks, the couple's troubled marriage was making headlines, with reports the two were arguing and spending time apart. Last week, Radar Online reported that moving trucks were spotted in front of the couple's home.

According to TMZ, Affleck and Garner are preparing the necessary paperwork and scheduled meetings for the split. The two will officially file divorce papers when property and custody issues are worked out.

Garner and Affleck began dating in 2004 after getting to know each other on the sets of "Pearl Harbor" (2001) and "Daredevil" (2003). In April 2004, they became engaged and were married two months later during a private ceremony in Turks and Caicos.
