Hollywood’s A-list came out last night in New York City for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s annual benefit gala. And, as always, the stars sported the most beautiful, outrageous and unique fashions.

This year’s theme, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” explores “how fashion designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear.”

“Fashion and technology are inextricably connected, more so now than ever before,” Met Director and CEO Thomas P. Campbell said. “It is, therefore, timely to examine the roles that the handmade and the machine-made have played in the creative process. This exhibition proposes a new view in which the hand and the machine, often presented as oppositional, are mutual and equal protagonists.”

The Met Gala is the main source of funding for the Costume Institute’s exhibits each year as each guest has to pay a whopping $25,000 to attend the event.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were crowned the best-dressed couple by Vogue magazine. They coordinated outfits with Kardashian in a mirrored Balmain dress and West in a crystal-encrusted denim jacket and distressed Fear of God jeans.

Beyoncé attended the event sans husband Jay Z. Wearing an embellished nude latex dress designed by Givenchy and jewels from Lorraine Schwartz, the singer said her dress was “actually a lot easier than last year” when she wore a sheer Givenchy Haute Couture frock with crystals strategically placed over her private parts.

And Kerry Washington cradled her newly revealed baby bump on the red carpet. Wearing a Marc Jacobs sequined frock with a high slit and sheer gloves and Gianvito Rossie shoes, the “Scandal” actress also debuted wavy, purple hair.

Orlando Bloom, Jessica Chastain, Andy Cohen, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Idris Elba, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Kate Hudson, Kylie Jenner, Derek Jeter, Nicole Kidman, Karlie Kloss, Lady Gaga, Brie Larson, Blake Lively, Demi Lovato, Madonna, Zayn Malik, Kate Mara, Rachel McAdams, Nicki Minaj, Trevor Noah, Ashley Olsen, Mary-Kate Olsen, Rita Ora, Sarah Jessica Parker, Katy Perry, Zoe Saldana, Amy Schumer, Alexander Skarsgård, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Swift, Ivanka Trump, Keith Urban, Naomi Watts, Olivia Wilde, Allison Williams, Michelle Williams, Anna Wintour and Zendaya were among the celebrities in attendance.

The “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” exhibit runs May 5 through Aug. 14 in the Robert Lehman Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. More than 170 pieces will be on display dating from the early 1900s to the present.
