A little piglet named Yoda was on his way to the slaughterhouse in Quebec when he snuck off of his transport truck, and the month-old baby will now live the rest of his life at a local animal sanctuary, CBC News reports.

"The people who were following that trailer saw the piglet sneak through a hole and fall off the trailer," Sûreté du Québec spokeswoman, Joyce Kemp, told CBC News. The piglet was found by local officials wandering around Highway 30 near Brossard last month. According to Kemp, animal control officers came to pick up the baby pig, and thanks to an online network of animal lovers, he ended up getting taken to the Wishing Well animal sanctuary north of Toronto.

Brenda Bronfman, who opened the sanctuary two years ago, named the lucky little piglet Yoda.

"He just loves to crawl into people's laps and be held. He's a little angel," she told CBC News. "He's just going to live the rest of his, god willing, long life. And will be happy with the other pigs and all the attention. There is always somebody on the farm, and he will just be loved for the rest of his natural life."

Despite a few "bumps and scapes" along the way, the sanctuary veternarian gave Yoda a good bill of health recently, and he is now living the life a piglet is meant to live, Bronfman said. She even got him a little sweater to keep him warm for the fall, posting photos of the sanctuary's newest addition to their official Facebook page.

The Wishing Well sanctuary permanently adopts all animals, a center that promotes "emotional strength and mental health of children, youth and their families through programs that provide a direct and holistic experience of our interconnectedness with all life," according to their official website.

The animals at Wishing Well include a number of former dairy and beef cows, sheep, donkeys, pigs, goats, chickens, cats, rabbits and horses, all of which who have been rescued from homes or farms where they were poorly treated.
