Disney animation earned a massive $1.28 billion four years ago with its mega-hit with "Frozen". It also garnered the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and two Grammys. Now it's time for "Frozen 2" to dominate the popular culture.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Currently the sequel to the animated hit is called Frozen 2 and it's under development.  Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel are reportedly returning to play their characters, Anna and Elsa, respectively.

"We're working hard on it," EW quoted "Frozen 2" producer, Peter Del Vecho. "We're in the development writing process and are very excited by it. Like all movies, it will evolve."

Del Vecho further added that "Frozen 2" will build on the first movie. He said that viewers will understand things better in the first movie after they have seen the sequel.

In an interview with Collider, Kristen Bell stated that "Frozen 2" script is still being written. She added that it was a very big decision for Disney to undertake the project and the studio taking their time so that the movie can be perfect.

"Frozen 2" currently don't have a release date and it is being speculated that the movie might not arrive until after 2019. Apart from Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, it is expected that Josh Gad will reprise his role as Olaf and Jennifer Lee directing the project.

As previously reported by HNGN, "Frozen" wasn't supposed to end the way it did. In the original storyline, Elsa was pure evil and she and Anna were neither sisters nor royals.'Frozen 2' producer Peter Del Vecho revealed that Elsa was originally imagined as a wicked woman against Anna's innocent good character. They were not sisters and thus did not come from royalty.

However, the original concept was scrapped because Disney felt the initial storyline was not satisfying enough and the characters were not emotionally connecting. Fans are now expecting the same hype from 'Frozen 2' since Disney is working so hard on the script.
