Kate Gosselin along with her daughters Mady and Cara appeared on the "Today" show to "speak out" against people who thought their TLC show negatively impacted their lives, but stayed awkwardly silent for most of the interview.

The 13-year-old Gosselin twins were asked what they wanted to say regarding how their family was doing since the show has ended, and neither Mady nor Cara could come up with an answer.

Kate chimed in the awkward since saying, "Mady, your words. It's your chance, spit it out."

The "Today" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie added, "It's a hard question," to which Kate responded, "No."

The awkwardness didn't end there. Guntrie asked Kate if by having the girls "speak out" using national news outlets and continuing the exposure helps them of "continues the injury to them."

"There is no injury to begin with," Kate said. The mother of eight added all the interviews they do are discussed as a family and she would not force any of her children to do something they don't want to do.

"It's really frustrating when there's so much out there that is not true," Kate told Guthrie. "I'm getting to the point where I'm extremely frustrated. I don't spend time worrying about it because I'm busy raising my kids. We know the truth and that's why they're here -- even though they're tongue tied this morning -- to say, 'Hey, we're okay. We're doing well.'"

Though the girls kept quiet on the "Today" show, Cara and Mady spoke to People magazine about their family's life since the show ended.

"People expect us to be damaged," Cara told People, Mady added: "People think we're supposed to be messed up, like, 'Oooooh, the poor Gosselin kids, they're going to be scarred for life, waaaaah.' Here's the big news: we're not messed up."
