Just days prior to its Sony's PlayStation Meeting 2016, the company confirmed it will be releasing PlayStation 4 Pro this year.

Andrew House, Sony Interactive president, informed The Financial Times, "It is intended to sit alongside and compliment the standard PS4," and that "we will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle."

PlayStation 4 Pro Release Date

Despite rumors that Sony will be releasing its PlayStation 4 Pro before the PlayStation VR (PS VR) hits in October, it won't. Sony verified last Sep. 7 that PlayStation 4 Pro will be hitting the shelves after the release of PS VR.

In fact, the PS 4 Pro is due for release on Nov.10 while its sibling, PlayStation 4 Slim, has already been available since Sep.15.

Price - Better than expected

While many consumers assumed that the upcoming high-end PS 4 Pro will be sold for more than £500, it's actually more reasonable than expected. The PS 4 Pro will be sold in the United Kingdom for £349, which is the same price as when the original PlayStation 4 was released. Pre-orders are now available for UK users. Source: Alphr

Specs - Twice as powerful than PS4 Original

The PlayStation 4 Pro is not only capable of outputting 4K but also HDR videos. This is possible because of its upgraded GPU, which is expected to have a 2.1 GHz clock speed and GDDR5 RAM.

Its 4K capability stretches further than gaming as YouTube and Netflix will be developing 4K apps for the PlayStation 4 Pro console. Graphics-wise, PS 4 Pro renders fairly impressive graphics as compared to the original PS4, when the company showcased its rendering quality with games like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Spiderman during its PlayStation Meeting event.

Unfortunately, not all PS games will be supporting 4K resolution. In fact, Andrew House said to Digital Spy, "I would say the majority will be upscaled - at least based on the game portfolio I have seen to date." He added that Sony's goal "is to deliver high-fidelity graphical experiences. We aim to provide developers with tools to further their visions."
