The look and function of PlayStation 4 Slim and Xbox One S were made as if they are meant to compete each other. The truth is, they really were.

Sony and Microsoft really went head to head with their newest (but just smaller versions) game consoles.

The two new game consoles were so alike that one can hardly tell the difference in terms of specifications and functionalities.

The PlayStation 4 Slim has AMD Jaguar 1.6 GHz octa-core, 800 MHz Integrated AMD graphics, 8 GB and 500 GB DDR5 memory and base storage, respectively.

While the Xbox One S has AMD 1.75 GHz octa-core, 914 MHz Integrated AMD graphics, 8 GB and 500 GB DDR3 memory and base storage, respectively.

Physically, the PS4 Slim and Xbox One S can just be considered as smaller versions of their original versions, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox, respectively. PS4 Slim is 33 percent smaller than PS4 while Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than Xbox.

Because of the compactness of both game consoles, Xbox One S had to eliminate the Kinect port while the PS4 Slim had to ditch the optical audio port.

The greatest edge that Microsoft Xbox One S has over the Sony PS4 Slim is the ability of Microsoft's game console to play 4K Ultra-HD movies, TV shows and of course, video games.

Unfortunately, you have to pay more money to Sony if you want a 4K resolution video game experience as the 4K capability is only limited to its PlayStation 4 Pro model. Also, Xbox One S seems to be working and performing faster than the original and much bigger Xbox One.

Differentials are as high as 5 frames per second and performance is 7-11 percent better. For a side by side comparison of the PS4 Slim vs Xbox One S, you can check the review by Digital Trends.

Considering all, Microsoft Xbox One S seem to triumph over Sony PS4 Slim hands down.
