The San Diego Chargers have been approached by multiple teams who are interested in acquiring the third overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. This may be happening pretty early, but it is telling that the Chargers would even consider trading the third overall pick in the NFL Draft.  San Diego has said that if a quality deal is there, they will take it.

"If we get the right deal, we'll do it. If it's the right deal and we feel like we're going to a spot to get a real good football player, it's something we're definitely going to look at," General Manager Tom Telesco said. "That's the same in every round you're trading. There is no difference here. It's no different picking at three than at 33. If you get the right deal from somebody and you feel good about it and if your board tells you that if you move down you'll still have a good choice in players, then you do it."

The Chargers definitely have a ton of needs to fill on this roster, and the potential ability to fill more than one of them at a time should not be ignored. Several teams looking for their franchise quarterback will likely covet that third overall position, and trading up to the Chargers spot would be incredibly expensive. San Diego can really take their time and wait for the right offer to come in, as they could potentially select whomever they want.

The Chargers primary needs lie with the defensive line, but you could add safety after the exit of Eric Weddle, wide receiver, and the offensive line. Eric Weddle was one of the primary team captains and a core defender, which is just not a player you can replace. The Chargers will need to replace a lot of players, as well as find some key defenders that they can base their future around.

Weddle was extremely important to this secondary, but the Chargers' main focus should revolve around building this offensive line. One team that sticks out is the Denver Broncos who already expressed wanting to trade offensive lineman Ryan Clady. Add him, plus a top tier defender or wide receiver and a couple of picks, and the Broncos could look to select their new franchise quarterback within the first three picks. The Chargers must put themselves in the best position to win now with Philip Rivers, and that could require them to make a trade, but as of right now, only time will tell.
