The Dallas Cowboys may not be the only team meeting with Vernon Hargreaves III, but they have the highest draft pick of the bunch. Hargreaves is the best pure cornerback in this draft, and though the Cowboys have had their sights set on Jalen Ramsey, there's a chance he is snatched up before they're on the clock, so getting Hargreaves could be the next best option.

The San Diego Chargers are expected to take either Joey Bosa or Ramsey, so whatever happens with the No. 3 overall pick will determine how a lot of the teams respond in drafting for a defensive back. This could leave the Dallas pretty much out of the running for a defensive back with the fourth overall pick, however this meeting with Hargreaves seems to suggest otherwise.

If Hargreaves could show the Cowboys something they like about him, they may consider taking him that high, however the more sensible thought is that Dallas trades back to land the University of Florida product. Hargreaves is not expected to be drafted until the 10th overall pick, but a lot can change until the time the Cowboys are on the clock.

Dallas could always trade back. This would be assumed if it intended on landing Ezekiel Elliott, and even he is not a guaranteed late-round pick. Trading back in the draft would only make sense if a team was desperate enough to not only swap first-round picks, but to add on at least two other picks or a player to the deal.

Currently, the Cowboys could be desperate enough to reach for a cornerback considering Brandon Carr's terrible play and monstrous salary cap hit. Carr has played in every game of his career (128) and has eight seasons in the NFL, but the fact of the matter is that he's 29, has a cap hit of $13.8 million and has not intercepted a pass in two seasons.

Carr has been a liability in this secondary and drafting Morris Claiborne was supposed to alleviate his struggles, but instead it just thrust Carr further into the defensive plans when Claiborne went down with injury after injury.

Now, the Cowboys will hope they can select a defensive back who can stay and the field and prove to become a valued contributor to this team such as 2015's first-round pick Byron Jones.
