It has been eight months since Patrick Dempsey's character Dr. Derek Shepherd was killed off "Grey's Anatomy." The creator of the show, Shonda Rhimes, previously admitted to Larry Wilmore on "The Nightly Show" that she killed off characters on her show because she did not like the actor.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dempsey opened up about Rhimes' comments after he was asked he thought she was talking about him.

"I think she loves being provocative and that's fine for who she is. That gets people talking about all the stuff that she's doing," Dempsey told EW about Rhimes, who also created "Scandal" and is an executive producer on "How to Get Away with Murder." "She's an amazing woman who is incredibly productive. She's promoting a book. She's promoting three shows. And she's emerging as the star of all of these things. I think she knows how to deal with the media and what she needs to say to get the response that she's looking for. She's very savvy."

Rhimes is known for killing major characters off her hit shows with Dempsey and Columbus Short of "Scandal" being the two most recent examples. Short was kicked off the Kerry Washington-led drama after he was charged with misdemeanor spousal battery against his wife, according to Us Weekly.

Dempsey will star in the third edition of the "Bridget Jones" series, called "Bridget Jones's Baby," as HNGN previously reported. In the movie, he will play a billionaire entrepreneur named Jack Qwant opposite Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth.

"Bridget Jones's Baby" comes out Sept. 16.
