A Florida man was arrested Monday evening after he allegedly tried to break into the Indian River County Jail because he wanted to "visit his friends."

Twenty-four-year-old Patrick Rempe drove his car and rammed it into the front door of the prison and then attempted to climb up a fence, according to The Huffington Post.

The man ended up getting stuck in the cable wire and had to be assisted by emergency workers. After the incident, he was taken to the hospital and is set to face multiple charges.

After he was detained, he told attending deputies that he was "high on flakka" and wanted to visit his friends who were in jail, WFTV reported.

"This is what drugs do to you. Flakka is poisoning our youth. Fortunately, none of our deputies were injured and our facility wasn't compromised," said Deryl Loar, sheriff for the Indian River County Office, according to WPBF.

Flakka is a synthetic drug that causes euphoria and hallucinations for those who take it, as well as paranoia, confusion and psychosis. The drug is compared to other drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamine, officials said.

The charges that Rempe faces include aggravated assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, causing property damage, three counts of felony mischief and driving under the influence, according to TCPalm.
