Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

"Guardians of the Galaxy" was somewhat of a surprise hit for Marvel with more than $700 million at the worldwide box office and near universal acclaim despite the unfamiliarity most movie-goers had with the characters and original property. But with a sequel, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," now on the way, fans are beginning to speculate on some of the major mysteries left unsolved in the first film as well as who the Big Bad will be in its follow up.

In a recent interview, star Bradley Cooper may have inadvertently answered both questions, though it is unknown if even he knows what he's talking about.

"But Josh Brolin's the villain, right?" Bradley asked. Brolin, of course, voices Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "Or he's the main villain, no? He was in the first one. He played what's his name's dad."

Brolin's Thanos has been the puppet master pulling the strings from the background since "Marvel's The Avengers." However, he has never been a direct antagonist for the Guardians or the Avengers. While it's fair to expect him to be involved in the "Guardians" sequel to some extent, we doubt he'll announce his presence so directly.

What's most interesting about Cooper's quote is him referring to Thanos as "what's his name's dad." We know Thanos is the adoptive father of Zoe Saldana's Gamora. But the true parentage of Chris Pratt's Peter Quill has been left intentionally ambiguous. While the context of the interview (which you can see below) suggests that Cooper referring to Ronan the Accuser (in which case, he's still wrong), it's possible that he could have just let a major spoiler slip.

Making Thanos Star-Lord's father would certainly be in the vein of the Darth Vader school of parenting and would open the door for some shocking reveals down the road. However, Cooper just didn't seem confident enough in his own grasp of the "Guardians" series for this to be taken seriously.

We'll keep you updated on any and all rumors going forward.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2" is scheduled for a May 5, 2017 release.
