Jennifer Lawrence is no stranger to superhero-type roles. She's the driving force behind "The Hunger Games" franchise as the sharp-shooting Katniss Everdeen, and her role as Mystique in the new trilogy of "X-Men" movies is by far one of the most popular in the series. Yet neither role is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, currently considered the crème de la crème of comic book movies and a right of passage for today's young crop of movie stars.

So, would Lawrence ever consider joining the MCU?

Comic Book Resources recently asked the A-list starlet if she'd be interested in joining Bradley Cooper and Chris Pratt in that world. Here's her enthusiastic response: "Well, yes! I would love to play in a sandbox with those two."

Lawrence previously co-starred with Cooper in "American Hustle" and "Silver Linings Playbook" and will be appearing with Pratt in the upcoming sci-fi drama "Passengers." Although she didn't give much in the way of details or specifics, putting all three of them in the same film would make for some seriously star-powered fireworks.

The only logical way that Lawrence could join the two leading men in the MCU is if she joined the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise. While other big-name Hollywood heavyweights have been eyed for that series, Lawrence has not been mentioned among them. No rumors currently hint that she is involved with "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

Could Lawrence join the MCU down the road as Captain Marvel? It's possible, but nearly every big name actress in the business is vying for that role. "Captain Marvel," slated for July 6, 2018, will be the first female-led superhero blockbuster in MCU history, so competition will be stiff, and it sounds as if Lawrence has had enough of the superhero world for a while.

All in all, movie-goers' dreams of seeing Lawrence in the MCU seem pretty unrealistic at the moment, despite the actresses' positive comments. Oh well, a fanboy can dream.
