The shooting took place at an outdoor courtyard on TSU's campus. The two that were injured were students and have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to CNN. Their names have not been released pending family notification.

The men believed to have been involved in the gambling were not TSU students, the university spokesperson said. Both men exchanged gunfire. One was killed.

The late night shooting at Tennessee State University has left one dead and two injured after a dispute over a dice game, according to Fox News.

Police sealed off the school's entrance late Thursday night and removed all non-students from campus, according to The Tennessean. There are currently no suspects in custody.

TSU is a historically black college located near the Cumberland River west of downtown Nashville. The 500-acre university has more than 9,000 students and about 405 full-time faculty members. It has been listed in U.S. News & World Report's "Guide to America's Best Colleges" for more than a decade, according to the school's website.

Authorities say three people have been shot at the Tennessee State University campus in Nashville, Tenn.,the Associated Press reported.

Three people were rushed to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center with gunshot wounds early Friday morning after a shooting took place on the university campus, according to Tanya Stone, operations supervisor for the Metro Nashville emergency communication center.

Police responded to a 911 emergency call reporting shots being fired just before 11 p.m., she said, according to NBC News.

It is not yet known whether the victims of the shooting were students and authorities have no information regarding their condition.

Stone says police are investigating the shooting and are "all over the scene." She added that there is no indication of an active shooter.

This isn't the first shooting to take place near the university this month. On Oct. 14, three college students were injured in a shooting that took place outside an off-campus party near Tennessee State University, as HNGN previously reported.
