Three college students were injured during a shooting incident that occurred outside an off-campus party near Tennessee State University early Wednesday morning.

The shooting took place outside a residence in the 3200 block of Albion Street around 12:40 a.m., according to NBC's Texas affiliate KXAN.

Witnesses claim a group showed up at a party but were denied entry by the hosts. They fired shots into the crowd of an estimated 200 moments after they were turned away, picking random targets.

Police were called to the scene and upon arrival they found two 20-year-old men and a 19-year-old that had been shot, according to 7 News.

One man was shot in the head and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was listed in "very critical condition."

The other two were taken to Vanderbilt Hospital and Centennial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to Fox's Memphis affiliate FOX13.

Though police have declined to identify the victims, they confirm the three are students at Tennessee State University, Nashville State University, and Middle Tennessee State University.

Police are searching for three black make suspects, described as:

•  A black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 220 pounds with a fade haircut, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and beige pants.

•  A black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 160 pounds with dreadlocks, wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt.

•  The third suspect's physical description is unknown but he was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt.
