The Oklahoma Sooners will play the Texas Longhorns for the 110th time this Saturday. The Red River Rivalry dates back to 1900 and the rivalry may be the greatest in all of college football. The game will be played at the historic Cotton Bowl and Texas will be looking for vengeance after losing last season 31-26.

The Longhorns took a beating last week against TCU and the team will likely be fired up to earn their second win of the season. Texas is off to a 1-4 start, which is their worst start in 60 years, and that is likely eating at these players and head coach Charlie Strong.

Freshman quarterback Jerrod Heard leads the Longhorns into a tough matchup Saturday afternoon. Heard is clearly developing as a college quarterback, and he has had some solid production with 661 passing yards and two touchdown. Heard can also move the ball on the ground, as he has rushed for 318 yards with three touchdowns. Heard will likely have to have his best performance of the season if the Longhorns want to pull off a major upset.

The Oklahoma Sooners come in heavily favored, but head coach Bob Stoops will likely have his players level headed and ready to go Saturday. The Sooners are led by junior quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is having an incredible season. Mayfield has thrown for 1,382 passing yards with 13 touchdowns, but he also has rushed for 138 yards with four touchdowns on the ground.

Mayfield will likely look to get the ball to senior wide receiver Sterling Shepard who is a big time player for the Sooners. Shepard already has 321 receiving yards and three touchdowns after four games, and will look to put up more numbers this weekend.

The Longhorns may lead the overall rivalry, but they likely know they will need a whole team effort and no mistakes to get a win on Saturday. The college football season doesn't feel complete without Texas vs. Oklahoma, and fans around the country are likely already anticipating kickoff.
