LSU running back Leonard Fournette is the clear frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy after four weeks of college football, according to Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports.

Fournette is listed at number one in Feldman's Heisman projections, and it makes sense with the numbers he is putting up.  Fournette already has 631 yards and eight touchdowns in three games, and two of those games were against SEC opponents.

The insane part is that Fournette has played a game less than other candidates, and some thought that the canceled game could hurt LSU's chances at a BCS playoff birth. Fournette has put up monster numbers against Power 5 conference opponents each week.

This past Saturday against Syracuse Fournette rushed for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Fournette could have had well over 300 yards and possibly three touchdowns if not for a meaningless penalty in which the Tigers didn't put enough men on the line of scrimmage. That penalty took away an 87-yard touchdown for Fournette and LSU.

Despite having touchdowns brought back, Fournette is the frontrunner for the Heisman. Through three games he is averaging 210 rushing yards per game, and he breaks through tackles like paper bags.

"He is ridiculous," said LSU running back coach Frank Wilson, via Fox Sports.

Ridiculous is the perfect way to describe Fournette's running style, as every time he touches the ball, fans wait to see something electrifying.

This season has been the return of the dominant running back in college football, and the LSU sophomore running back is leading the way. Fournette has already drawn comparisons with Adrian Peterson, and some consider him the best talent in all of college football. If Fournette keeps this pace he will surely be holding the stiff-arm statue at the end of the season.
