Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao stated that he would most likely fight his last fight as a boxer before the elections in the Philippines commences in May 2016.

While visiting the AIBA World Boxing Championships, the boxing icon stated in an AFP interview that his last opponent would be confirmed by November or December. He has also confirmed that he is in negotiations with American Floyd Mayweather and British Amir Khan, reports Yahoo! Sports.

"I will fight anybody, anywhere. I am going to fight probably before the election. The election is coming next year, May, and before that I will probably have one fight." he said.

The 36-year-old is currently serving as a congressman in the Philippines and is looking to run for a place in the country's Senate. Pacquiao stated that he would be focusing solely on his reponsibilities as a politician and as a family man after the Philippine elections are over.

Other prospects for his final fight as a boxer would be Amir Khan or junior welterweight titlist Danny Garcia. However, Pacquiao did state that another fight against the undefeated Mayweather, who won the match up earlier this year, would be among his preferred choices, according to ESPN.

Mayweather announced his retirement after his latest match against Andre Berto in September, whom critics stated was overmatched by the undefeated American. However, Mayweather has come out of retirement before, and might do so again.
