Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton ("Michael Clayton") is being eyed by Disney and Marvel studios for a key role in the upcoming "Doctor Strange" film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The role in question is The Ancient One, who acts as Doctor Strange's mentor and advisor and also as the previous Sorcerer Supreme.

In the comics, the Ancient One is typically portrayed as a male and is also the person who trained iconic "Doctor Strange" villain Baron Mordo. It is unknown if the film will maintain that same backstory though it has been rumored that "12 Years a Slave" actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is in talks to play the Big Bad in the movie.

Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock," "Star Trek Into Darkness") is set to play surgeon Stephen Strange who uncovers a world of magic and different dimensions after a horrible car accident. The film will be directed by Scott Derrickson ("The Day The Earth Stood Still," "Deliver Us From Evil") and is scheduled to hit theaters in November of 2016.
