Survey Reveals Why Men Prefer Brunettes To Blondes For Lovers

A new survey found that six out of ten men think that blondes are more fun but they prefer brunettes as lovers.

A 1953 musical stated that "Gentlemen preferred Blondes." It may have been the case half a century ago but doesn't seem to hold true for men of the current generation, suggested a new survey.

The survey conducted by online sex toy store lovehoney.co.uk, took into account the preferences of 1,000 adults. The survey revealed that a staggering 58 percent of men thought brunettes made better lovers in bed than blondes. Only 16 percent of the men chose blondes as better lovers, followed by 12 percent who preferred women with black hair and another 9 percent chose red headed women as the best lovers.

"Until now, brunettes have had fun quietly," said hairdresser Russell McGrath, operations director at Michael Van Clarke London, according to the Daily Mail. "But now they're outshining the blondes and are enjoying a sexier approach to life."

"We find women often come into the salon asking to go brunette for a sexier look - from Elizabeth Taylor to Audrey Hepburn and Anne Hathaway, brunette starlets have inspired women for decades," McGrath said. "Brunettes have healthy locks with bounce and shine in abundance - this promotes confidence which makes it the number one choice for hair color."

Other findings of the survey revealed that having a good sense of humor is a sure shot way of earning extra brownie points from the opposite sex. More than 25 percent women admitted that they would sleep with a man if he was funny. The survey also confirmed that popular belief that "a way to a man's heart is through his stomach." Most men admitted that they'd prefer hooking up with a women who knows her way around the kitchen.

Earlier this year, Hairdresser Andrew Collinge's company carried out a poll that suggested while men prefer blondes as their girlfriends, they would rather marry a brunette.
