The end of "Girls" may come sooner than later for Lena Dunham and her co-stars.

The HBO series will premiere its fifth season next winter and Dunham projects only one more season after that, according to Variety.

"I think America has a tendency to push shows past their due dates," the 28-year-old actress told Variety. "I like the British model - in and out."

Dunham has thought about the fate of her character Hannah Horvath and has a final shot to the show in mind. The biggest question she wrestles for the finale is whether Hannah should end up with somebody.

"That's the question. And how important is it ending up with someone, and is that the marker of success for a woman?" she said.

The Golden Globe winner also shared whether "Girls" will follow in the footsteps of another popular HBO show about four women - "Sex and the City" - and reunite on the big screen.

"I have fantasies of us all coming back [when] we're 40," said Dunham, who wants to wait at least 10 years before producing a "Girls" movie. "We'd want to wait long enough for something to have really gone down."

"Girls" will return for season five in 2016.
