E.L. James is keeping her word and has not spoken about casting news for "Fifty shades of Grey" at the San Diego Comic-Con. It was rumored that she would be revealing the cast at the event but she quickly shot down the rumors on Twitter. Apparently, she only attended the event as a guest and because she is a huge fan of the event.
She did, however, open up about why "Team 50" chose Sam Taylor-Johnson as the director. Vulture magazine asked the author what prompted James to pick Taylor-Johnson.
"Actually, it's not just me! Everybody keeps asking, 'Why did you decide... 'It wasn't just me! There's a huge friggin' studio behind this," she said. "That's the wonderful thing about doing it this way, is you compile a team who really know what they're doing, who are incredibly talented, and you listen to what they have to say... "
"I saw both of [Taylor-Johnson's] films, and I was blown away. Simple. She's creative, incredibly talented, she's got an extraordinary eye," she continued. "She had a good idea about the whole 'Fifty' experience, she understands it... And I thought, There's a woman I can go and get drunk with."
Even though the big news fans were hoping for wasn't revealed this is still a good tip on what the actually movie will be like. Since James feels so strongly that Taylor-Johnson "gets" the movie that means she will do an excellent job capturing the book on the big-screen.
A lot of fans were worried that the steamy sex scenes between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele would be watered-down but if James' statement is anything to go by "Fifty Shades" fans can expect the movie to be as great and as hot as the books are.
In an interview with USA Today, producer Michael De Luca also said that he loves her "unique ability to gracefully showcase complex relationships dealing with love, emotion and sexual chemistry." That pretty much sums up the relationship between Steele and Grey.
The director herself has also promised to do her very best to bring the books to life and not dissappoint fans.
"I'm so excited to be charged with the evolution of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' from page to screen," she said in a statement. "For the legions of fans, I want to say that I will honor the power of Erika's book and the characters of Christian and Anastasia. They are under my skin, too."
Do you think Sam Taylor-Johnson will do a good job directing the movie?
