"Furious 7" is hitting theaters this Friday, but stars and fans alike are already looking ahead. Vin Diesel is busy promoting the latest installment and revealed some interesting information about the future of the franchise on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Diesel reaffirmed past rumors that Kurt Russell will play a larger role in "Fast and Furious 8" after his introduction in "Furious 7." Diesel also revealed that the plan is to re-locate the action to New York in the next film after Dominic Toretto and his crew wreaked vehicular havoc all over the world in recent installments.

Russell is more of a supporting player in this film with the main villain being Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), the brother of Owen Shaw from the last movie. Lucas Black, who was the main character in "Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift" has reportedly been signed for two additional "Fast" movies. Both he and Russell could see expanded roles down the road.

The tragic death of Paul Walker led many to believe that "Furious 7" would be the final film in the franchise. However, Diesel stated that "Furious 7" is actually the beginning of a new trilogy, which would make sense given all the supporting acting additions. Director Justin Lin - who oversaw the third through six films in the series - is rumored to be helming a multi-part finale for the franchise that will bring Dom and his crew's story to a close.

Universal is undoubtedly excited to move ahead with the film franchise after its increasing box office success. "Furious 7" is expected to continue that money making streak this weekend.
