Pebble fans visiting the smartwatch maker's website recently may have noticed a mystery countdown that hints at a new model for this year.

The site update, which took place on Friday, follows rumors about Pebble launching a new watch, with sources saying the company has been planning a major update for the device's hardware and software that could arrive next week, according to 9to5Mac. The hardware is expected to run on a version of the Pebble watch operating system, and the new software is said to come with a timeline view designed to record a list of recent notifications.

Expected features include a thinner design and a wide, color, e-paper like display. However, unlike the Apple Watch, this gadget's screen is said to not be touch.

The device is also expected to do a better job at integrating with the Apple iPhone and other best-selling smartphones than its predecessors, the New Hampshire Voice reported. Other features said to come with the watch include a microphone, a six-axis gyroscope and a new Cortex-M4 chipset.

The countdown sets the date for Pebble's "big" reveal for Tuesday, Feb. 24, so smartwatch fans only have to wait a couple of days to find out if the rumors are true.
