Gabbie Gonzalez Demanded Singer Jack Avery’s Finger as Proof of His Death in Murder Plot

TikTok influencer Gabbie Gonzalez allegedly sought singer Jack Avery’s murder, demanding his severed finger as proof of death amid a contentious custody dispute, prosecutors say.

Gabbie Gonzalez allegedly demanded that a hitman send back singer Jack Avery's severed finger, with his jewelry still on it, as proof he had been killed in an alleged murder‑for‑hire plot, prosecutors said this week.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles County say Gonzalez, a 24‑year‑old TikTok influencer, conspired with her father, Francisco Javier Gonzalez, 59, and her then‑boyfriend, Kai Faron Cordrey, 26, to have Avery murdered during a bitter custody dispute over their now 7‑year‑old daughter.

All three are charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder in connection with what authorities describe as a dark‑web murder plot targeting the former "Why Don't We" singer, according to People.

The filings allege the conspiracy took place between 2020 and 2021, when the custody fight was ongoing. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Gonzalez asked Cordrey to help find a killer on the dark web to carry out the hit on Avery.

In April 2021, Francisco Gonzalez allegedly wired Cordrey $10,000 as front money to locate, hire, and pay a hitman, with additional funds later requested to complete the job, prosecutors said. Investigators say the group discussed using cryptocurrency for payment and making Avery's death look like an accident.

The allegation that the conspirators wanted a severed finger as proof of death emerged in new court filings. Investigators have not publicly specified which finger was requested in the official charging documents, though one report, citing prosecutors, described a request for a pinky finger.

The plot allegedly unraveled in September 2021, when an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a hitman spoke with Cordrey about payment and proof of death, according to investigators.

Court records cited by media reports say Cordrey identified Avery as the target, discussed how soon the killing should take place, and indicated that Gonzalez wanted the murder carried out while her father could pay for it. No attack ever occurred, and Avery was not physically harmed, the Times of India reported.

Gonzalez was arrested in California in May 2026 and later transferred to the Los Angeles County jail, while her father was taken into custody in Florida and is awaiting extradition, authorities say.

Cordrey has also been arrested, and all three appeared in court this week, where Gonzalez's bail was set in the multimillion‑dollar range and she was ordered to stay away from her daughter, according to reports.

None of the defendants has entered a plea, and they each face up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted on all counts, the district attorney's office has said, as per Fox13 News.
