Bruce Jenner has reportedly always known he was meant to be a woman. A source close to the family said that the 65-year-old former Olympian recently made a bombshell confession to his family and told everyone that he has wanted to be a woman since he was 5 years old.
Reportedly, Jenner said that he has been hiding his "true self" since he was a kid. Even during the 1976 Olympics when he won a gold medal in the decathlon, the athlete-turned-TV personality knew he was the wrong gender, TMZ reports.
Sources told the site that Jenner has "never been female" in front of his children, meaning wearing women's clothing while they are around and he has not revealed to them his female name. Radar Online previously reported that Jenner was secretly living life as a woman for the past year at his Malibu home. Sources told Radar that he's expected to get gender reassignment surgery and fully transition within the next few months.
"The decision wasn't made overnight, but has been done thoughtfully over the past year," the source said. "After having his Adam's apple removed, and beginning to take hormones, Bruce knew what he wanted to do."
"He was been in counseling as required by the surgeon, and his doctors believe Bruce is psychologically prepared to become a woman," the source added.
According to reports, while Jenner's children may be shocked that he's always wanted to become a female, his ex-wife Kris Jenner has reportedly known for quite some time. Sources said that Kris was aware that Jenner "had issues with his sexual identity" before they even got married. The source also said Jenner first mentioned a sex change a few years ago but Kris didn't want to go public with the news because allegedly feared it would "hurt the brand."
