China, U.S. To Hold Strategic And Economic Talks Next Week

China and the United States are scheduled to hold the fifth round of Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Washington next week, said officials.

The two-day talks will be held on July 10 and 11 according to the Chinese foreign ministry.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang on Thursday said that Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Vice Premier Wang Yang will represent the Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to the Chinese State News Agency Xinhua.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew are set to act as special representatives of U.S. President Barack Obama.

The delegates will discuss in great detail about the implementation of the agreements already made by the two presidents during a summit in California last month.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the talks are meant to boost coordination and cooperation on bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Meeting of the two presidents last time was over shadowed by the secret U.S. documents leaked by the former CIA analyst Edward Snowden where the leaks said the U.S National Security Agency was monitoring millions of phone calls and movements of the people.

In recent days, the leaks have more precisely said that the U.S. National Security Agency's surveillance programs allegedly targeted websites in China.

The NSA leaks will probably hamper Washington from accusing China of hacking into its official and business firms.

Earlier this year, Washington had constantly warned Beijing of hacking into its websites and stealing confidential information from the U.S. military websites as well as from its business firms.
