Ringo Starr To Publish Children’s Book Inspired By Beatles’ Song

Ringo Starr revealed Tuesday that he is working on his second book, which will be for children that takes its inspiration from the popular Beatles' song "Octopus's Garden."

During his prime Ringo Starr, the drummer of iconic band The Beatles, was considered the most popular member of the band. After a stellar music career, the drummer moved on to making a name for himself in the literary world. The musician is all set to release his first book, which is an interactive book containing pictures from the days he spent with the band. Now, Starr has revealed he is working on his second book which will be a children's book drawing inspiration from the popular Beatles' song "Octopus's Garden."

The book will be published by Simon & Schuster Children's Books. According to a press release by the publishers Tuesday, a picture book edition of the song will be published, which will also come with a CD that will feature never-heard before music composed by Starr along with a narration of the story. The book will be illustrated by Ben Cory, the illustrator of "Aliens Love Underpants."

"It's an honor to publish such a music legend," Simon & Schuster Childrens' Books president, publisher Jon Anders said. "The pairing of Ringo's whimsical lyrics with Ben's charming illustrations is a perfect fit. We're happy to bring the magic of this song to a whole new generation of readers."

"It gives me great pleasure to collaborate with Ben Cort and Simon & Schuster for the further adventures of Octopus's Garden," Starr said about his new project. "Peace and Love, Ringo."

"Octopus's Garden" is a song from the 1969 Beatles album "Abbey Road," which was written by Starr in 1968 while he was reportedly vacationing on actor Peter Sellers' boat in Sardinia.

The book will be published this October in hardback and its paperback edition will be published next year. It will be available next January in North America.
