A man had sex with his unconscious neighbor to save her life according to Gawker.
According to Gawker, 50-year-old Rodger William Kelly "placed it inside of her to try and get her temperature up."
Authorities were alerted of a 29-year-old unconscious woman. When police arrived on the scene, Kelly was seen giving the woman CPR and proceeded to admit that he "found the woman in front of her apartment, brought her inside his apartment, changed her clothes and put her on his bed" and then attempted to having intercourse with her to raise her temperature, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.
Based on the article, Kelly assumed her temperature was low because she had been left outside for a period of time.
It's unclear who made the phone call to authorities.
Gawker reports that when the woman gained her conscience she recalled bruises on her upper thigh and pelvic area and believed she was raped. While at the hospital doctors were unable to perform a rape kit because the "the woman's vaginal area was cleaned while she was sedated."
Kelly claims he and the victim shared a sexual relationship prior to his sexual attempt to save her life. The two decided to end their romantic relationship for an unspecified reason.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported authorities agree Kelly's actions can be considered rape. He was arrested Friday and charged with one count of first-degree felony rape on Monday. The suspect's bail was set at $25,000.
Kelly faces possible jail time. No statement's from the victim or the prosecutors have been made.
