Usually when a person is charged with murder for stabbing someone with a Stiletto the murder weapon is a knife with a long slender blade that is most often in the form of a switchblade, not the shoe nicknamed for its resemblance to the knife. A Houston woman allegedly murdered her boyfriend with the heel of such a shoe, according to ABC News.
University of Houston professor Alf Stefan Andersson was found dead by police Sunday morning in a luxury high-rise apartment. The apparent cause of death was multiple stab wounds to the head.
Andersson's girlfriend, Ana Trujillo, 44, opened the door to the apartment when police showed up to investigate a neighbor's complaing about an argument at 3:50 a.m. Officers could see the victim's body lying on the floor and detained Trujillo at the scene, according to an official statement from the Houston police department.
Andersson worked for the University of Houston Center for Nuclear Receptors and Cell Signaling with a focus on women's reproductive health. He had been there since 2009, according to a statement released by the University of Houston.
"The University of Houston is saddened to learn of the tragic death of Professor Stefan Andersson," a statement from the university said. "Our hearts go out to his colleagues, family and friends during this difficult time."
Brian Wice, a criminal defense attorney who used to live in the apartment was shocked that such a crime could take place in luxury building.
"It had a beautiful view and wonderful security," Wice told the Houston Chronicle. "When I lived there, it was a lot of doctors, a lot of lawyers.
Police have not stated whether the shoe was used to bludgeon the victim or if the shoe was on Trujillo's foot at the time of the crime, according to ABC News.
