Los Angeles (1-5) snapped their five-game losing streak on Sunday with a 107-92 win against the Charlotte Hornets. For Bryant, it's the first positive step toward turning the season around.
"Just get a damn win," Bryant said prior to the Charlotte game, via ESPN. "You can't listen to what everybody says. You can't listen to people. You've got to be as stubborn as a mule. You've got to keep chipping away. Got to keep competing and going after it, and this thing will turn around. Just as easily as we lost five in a row, we can turn around and win give in a row."
Bryant hasn't pushed the panic button, but it hasn't stopped a number of people from speculating Bryant would leave Los Angeles for New York City, where he would be reunited with Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher. Despite the future Hall of Famer declaring his desire to finish his career as a Laker, ex-teammate Rick Fox became the latest to indicate Bryant could end up with the New York Knicks.
"If there is not a real opportunity for [Bryant] to win a championship there, the thought of him leaving may shock Lakers fans," Fox told King, according to FanSided. "But I wouldn't put it past him going in search of one or two more championships. Personally, I think it's going to get done in New York. I really do. I just believe in Phil. I've been around him. I know Kobe has had his greatest success with Phil in a leadership capacity. So the reuniting of the two is not an unrealistic thought."
Memphis (6-1), meanwhile, had their six-game winning streak snapped on Saturday by the Milwaukee Bucks.
