‘Come & Get It’ Singer Selena Gomez Stars As Gun-Toting Robber in New Movie ‘Getaway’ (VIDEO)

"Come & Get It" singer Selena Gomez is putting quite a bit of space between her Disney-acting days and her new more adult-like persona. The 20-year-old is showing a much edgier side in her new action flick "Getaway," Celebuzz reports.

In the newly released extended trailer Gomez is seen wearing a hoodie and toting a gun as she tries to rob a man and steal his car. Unfortunately for Gomez, the man (played by Ethan Hawke) is currently in the middle of a nasty hostage negotiation involving his wife. He is desperately trying to get her back alive after she is kidnapped. After Gomez's failed robbery attempt, she is now in the middle of his drama.

Gomez has been trying to separate herself from when she acted on Disney's "Wizards of Waverly Place" by pursuing more daring roles. She recently starred in the movie "Spring Breakers" as Faith. Even though her character was the most innocent one out of her friends, the movie showed all the crazy things a lot of young spring break college students get into.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gomez urged her tween fans not to go see the R-rated movie.

"There's gonna be the intrigued preteens that are gonna want to sneak in and see the movie, and that's obviously something I can't control, Gomez told THR. "[I can] definitely warn them as best I can, but the movie is rated R, and it's kind of a given when you see the trailer that you should be old enough to see the movie."

Gomez is also getting ready for a new role in the upcoming movie "Rudderless." According to Hollywood Life, the young actress will play a "troubled woman" who "engages in sex and gets involved in a cult."

Jamie Chung, who also stars in the movie, told E! News that people will definitely get to see a different side of Gomez in this movie.

"The thing is, she's so talented, you're really going to see a different side. It's going to be a bit more fragile," Chung said. "I think it's a side you've never see of her. It's quite fantastic. It's dark. But she's always so lovely."

"Rudderless" is set to be released in 2014, while "Getaway" comes out Aug. 30.
