'Deus Ex: The Fall' Release Date: Square Enix Announces First Installment in New Mobile Series (VIDEO)

Square Enix steals Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" spotlight today as they announce the release of their new title "Deus Ex: The Fall."

According to reports, Eidos Montreal worked alongside Square Enix's mobile developers to make "The Fall" their first installment in the "Deus Ex" mobile series.

Fans of the "Deus Ex" series were reportedly questioning why game developers decided to go the mobile as opposed to other gaming platforms like the PS3.

Square Enix marketing director Jon Brooke reportedly thinks it's not about the platform, but more about bringing content to all types of gamers.

"This isn't about tablets vs. next-gen," Brooke said in an interview with MCVUK.com. "We're a big publisher, so you know we'll be showing next-gen gaming at E3 next week. We're as serious about next-gen as we are about tablet gaming."

Brooke believes there is an opportunity for "Deus Ex: The Fall" to become a great success in mobile gaming.

"As a publisher, we believe all platforms present opportunities and if you create the right content, we believe we can have success," Brooke told MCVUK.com. "It's not just about next-gen for us: it's about PC gaming, tablets, browsers. Wherever there is an audience, it's about creating great content that's suited to their needs."

Whatever the platform may be, Square Enix will always guarantee an intricate story. The game was reportedly described as a "story driven action-RPG." "The Fall" will star a new protagonist Ben Saxon, a former member of Britain's Special Air Service.

According to NBC News Technology, "Saxon has had some work done, turning him into an augmented cyborg-like posthuman with a haunted past. Playing as Saxon, players will work to unravel a drug conspiracy that, knowing the 'Deus Ex' universe, will probably turn out to be nothing like it original seems to be."

Eidos executive game director Jean-François Dugas said in a press statement that players can expect exploration, action, hacking, stealth, social enhancers, player choice and consequence seen in previous title "Deus Ex: Human Revolution." Dugas assured gamers that they will get the full "Deus Ex" experience on a tablet as they would on other platforms.

"Deus Ex: The Fall" will be released for mobile devices Summer 2013 for $6.99.
