An unsuspecting fan, Khyati Shah, was struck by singer Miguel when he attempted to jump over a crowd of screaming fans at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards and may have suffered brain damage according to TMZ.
"Some of the difficulties she's experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury," Vip Bhola, Shah's lawyer, said.
After the incident, the Billboard Music Award staff provided the victim with an ice pack to treat her elbow. She was then greeted by Miguel who sincerely apologized and vowed to make it up to her. Shah seemed to be in good spits and physical health so it was speculated that legal action will not take place. Bhola claims the ice pack was not enough to treat his client and was disappointed that she wasn't immediately taken to the hospital.
After the award show, Shah began experiencing a decline in health to which she went for medical attention. The fan is waiting for test results to determine whether or not she suffered a brain injury. The results of the neurological test will determine whether or not Shah will go forth with a lawsuit.
A second victim was involved in the incident but has not been reported harmed. The second victim was not granted a backstage interview as Shah was nor has it been reported that she was granted an apology.
Miguel is known for electric performances but this is the first his desire to amazingly entertain has harmed a fan. No response other than an apology has been given by the singer and the Billboard Music Awards have not responded to threats of a lawsuit. It is unclear how much the lawsuit will be filed for.
