Karl Lagerfeld Calls Adele ‘Roundish'; Thinks She Lost Weight Because of His ‘Fat’ Comment

The outspoken and eccentric designer Karl Lagerfeld has once again put his foot in his mouth by calling Adele "roundish," US Weekly reports. In promo clips for CNN's "Fashion: Backstage Pass," host Anita Cho asks the fashion designer about previous comments he made calling Adele fat.

"I never said that she was fat," Lagerfeld explained. "I said that she was a little roundish. A little roundish is not fat."

He then adds "but for such a beautiful girl, after that she lost eight kilo [17.6 pounds], so I think the message was not that bad."

Adele recently lost weight after giving birth to a baby boy in October of 2012. In her book "Adele: The Biography" she said she was perfectly comfortable being a size 14.

"I've always been a size 14-16 and been fine with it," she said. "I would only lose weight if it affected my health or sex life, which it doesn't."

Last year, Lagerfeld faced criticism after he called Adele fat. In an interview with Paris' Metro newspaper he commented on the "Rolling In The Deep" singer's weight saying "the thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice."

Adele is not the only one to be the subject of Lagerfeld's harsh words. In the interview he did with CNN's "Fashion: Backstage Pass" he again reiterated his dislike for Pippa Middleton's face saying "I think her sister looks better."

According to the U.K. newspaper, The Sun, last year Lagerfeld said Kate Middleton had a nice figure and thought she was the right girl for Prince Williams.

However, the designer took a stab at Pippa Middleton.

"On the other hand, her sister struggles. I don't like the sister's face," Lagerfeld said. "She should only show her back."
