Rumors say that Apple will launch a 12.9-inch iPad in early 2014.
A new rumor is circulating online about Apple releasing a 12.9-inch iPad which first came out in a Korean ETNews site. Apple declined to comment about the rumor but to get the record straight, one of Apple's suppliers is based in Korea.
The new iPad which media named as 'iPad Maxi' is just your regular iPad with a bigger screen. The Macbook Pro has a 13-inch screen. Apple is said to be developing iPads with bigger display in preparation of taking over the e-book market which needs creative and productivity software packages on their tablets.
According to BookStats, the most comprehensive publisher data compilation yet in the U.S., the industry's revenue reached $1.97 billion last 2011 with 25.9 million e-readers. This sounds promising for businesses if they join in.
Many are excited about this new iPad because of the portability and battery life Apple has to offer. It will also have an advanced low-glare display surface making it suitable for reading in the classroom. ETNews posted that the iPad company is already negotiating with different suppliers in Korea about the components of this new product.
Just to clarify, the 12.9-inch iPad will be designed as an e-book reader but those who are planning to use this for e-reading don't have to worry because ultrabooks and notebooks with 13-inch displays are also being targeted by Apple.
Some critics said that this rumor is very unlikely as most Apple users prefer the smaller screen but there are some that says the target market are the ultrabook users waiting for a larger iPad so they can switch. Apple also has a Macbook Pro with a 13-inch screen which may be directly affected once the new iPad comes out.
