Miley Cyrus released a new cover of Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" on Twitter. Has she done justice to the song?
Miley Cyrus is no stranger to covers. Between releasing her own albums and engaging in weird tactics at award shows, the songstress makes it a point to treat her fans with a cover every now and then. This time round, she's taken up Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You." Apart from tweaking the song title to "Baby I'm Gonna Leave You," the singer has tried to stick as much as possible to the original in her rendition.
Over the weekend, Cyrus tweeted a link to the song, which is available on her SoundCloud page. The song has already received many comments. While many users appreciated the singer's attempt, others termed is as "not a good cover."
Previously, Cyrus has also released covers of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", which will appear on The Flaming Lips' Beatles tribute album (I Get By With a Little Help From My Fwends), due for release Oct. 28.
Her particular fondness for music from the 1960s doesn't end here. Recently, she offered her opinion on Elvis Presley, calling the King the original twerker.
"Elvis, he wasn't wearing the outfits I was wearing but he was coming out and he was doing like the OG twerking. Like, no one wants to admit that he was twerking, but he was," she said, according to MTV.co.uk. "He was like sex. He was a symbol of sex but no one would have ever called Elvis a shit because he wasn't a girl. It's (a) double standard and I think I'm doing something for the double standard."
Earlier last week, Cyrus also announced plans to try her hand at Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man."
