Meta Launches Reddit-Like Forum App Dedicated to Facebook’s Groups

Meta has no shortage of dedicated apps this month.

Meta has launched a new app called "Forum," and the company said that this app will feature content from the Facebook Groups you are a part of.

Publications have since talked about the app and characterized it as similar to Reddit, the social news aggregator platform, which is also known for offering an online forum.

Meta's Forum, a Dedicated App for Facebook Groups

A new app called "Forum" was spotted in the App Store by insider and tech industry source, Matt Navarra, who pointed out that it was from Meta Platforms Inc., another one of Mark Zuckerberg's companies.

There were no prior announcements or any kind of hype around it, but the company has released it on the iOS app marketplace platform for users to download.

Meta has not taken down the app yet on the Apple App Store, which means that this was not a leak from the company or an app that they have slated for a later release date. Instead, it was unintentionally made available on the platform.

As Navarra shared on his post on Threads, this is a dedicated app for Facebook Groups as it features the content and discussions also found on the main app.

Reddit-Like App From Meta Is Now Available

Navarra also said that the app features Reddit-like experiences for its users as it focuses on offering a helpful channel to people who are like-minded, have the same concerns and interests.

According to the insider, Meta is seemingly pushing for the idea that the app can provide "real answers from real people," similar to what Reddit currently offers.

This dedicated app will focus on the different content or posts of each group, similar to what Reddit's homepage looks like.

It will not have News Feed posts or reshared content from friends, Pages, and recommended content via the algorithm. It will only feature posts made by humans via the Facebook Groups and will feature a helpful generative AI chatbot called "Ask."
