The Beatles are one of the world's greatest rock and roll bands. Now fans can get a glimpse of who the men were behind all the spotlight and fame. Ringo Starr, The Beatles drummer, is unveiling more than 100 rare images of the "Fab Four" he took during the '60s, People magazine reports.
In a new e-book, "Photograph," the drummer shows the world photos during their first U.S. tour, their trip to India to meet Maharishi and their last days together as a band.
Starr told People that he recently discovered the pictures of Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison "in boxes we brought home after my mother died. We thought, 'I wonder what she's got!'"
The e-book will be available at the Apple iBookstore and at RingoPhotograph.com on June 12. A hard copy book signed by Starr will be available in limited edition in December.
The e-book will give readers an interactive experience allowing them to zoom in on pictures and will also include video and audio commentary to help tell the story behind each picture. The limited edition book will include more pictures that the electronic book.
"These are shots," Starr said in a statement. "That no one could have."
A selection of Starr's photography, several of his drum kits and other memorabilia will be included in an exhibition at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The exhibition, called "Ringo: Peace and Love," will open to the public on June 12 the same day the e-book goes on sale.
Ringo also released a book in 2003 called "Postcards from the Boys," a collection of postcards he received over the years from the group.
