In an effort to expand it's ease of use, micro-blogging website Twitter has released an update to its iOS and Android mobile apps that makes sharing photos easier.
According to PCMag, the new update has removed a lot of the steps that it took to edit and post a picture to Twitter. Before, users had to launch their photos separately, now they can be viewed simply by tapping the photo gallery button on the bottom right of their new tweet window. The camera roll will then open up right there within the Twitter application.
In addition, when images are added to tweets, users will see a full-sized image of their edited photo rather than a nearly impossible to see thumbnail version of their photo.
"With fewer steps needed to share photos, you can more easily share what's going on in your life and quickly return to marveling over that gorgeous sunset," wrote Senior Sofrware Engineer Mish Lushin in a blog post for Twitter on Wednesday.
Pictures aren't the only thing to receive a facelift on the site's mobile application. Accounts had some minor tweaks made to them in order to improve the look and feel of tweeting on-the-go. Users will now see their photo and Twitter name above each post that they compose, giving them a much better idea of what the tweet will look like once it is actually published and in the conversation thread.
PCMag also reports that "On Android, the update brings an additional user-requested change for notifications. The latest version lets you see more details about your interactions right from the Notifications Drawer. You'll now be able to swipe the notification to expand it."
The new user-requested changes and attention to detail will be helpful for the now seven-year-old company to maintain an audience with a site concept that has remained relatively static throughout the years.
The new update is available now in the App Store and Google Play.
