George Michael Health 2013: Singer Released From Hospital Following Car Crash

George Michael has been released from the hospital, according to a message posted on his website Tuesday.

The "Faith" singer reportedly continues "to rest and recuperate," according to the message.

The post went on to thank fans saying that Michael "is well and thanks everyone for all the messages of support.".

Michael was hospitalized earlier this month after his involvement in a car accident on the M1 in England. The singer was a passenger in a Range Rover that was involved in a crash. Michael's rep issued a statement to the media saying the singer was hospitalized for "superficial cuts and bruises" but was "fine."

The singer's publicist told Reuters last week that Michael remained in the hospital as a precaution. BBC News reported Michael was on the road when rescue workers arrived to the scene of the accident, but was conscious.

The last few years have not been kind to Michael's health, which may be why the star is taking a little extra time to heal up this time around. In 2010 he was arrested for wrecking his car while allegedly being under the influence. In 2011 the singer combatted a life-threatening case of pneumonia.

The British artist gained world fame with his pop group Wham in the 1980s. Their hit "Careless Whisper" brought the group into the spotlight. Later Michael would continue on as a solo artist in the '80s, releasing the everpopular album "Faith."
