“Star Wars” newcomer John Boyega will reportedly take on the lead role in the upcoming film as a Stormtropper deserter. His character’s story begins when he meets Daisy Ridley, and the duo find a Jedi relic belonging to Luke Skywalker.

“Their quest takes them off world, and they meet up with Han Solo and Chewbacca, who aren't flying around in the Millenium Falcon anymore but are piloting... well, that could be a spoiler,” Badass Digest reports. “Anyway, Han and Chewie recognize the lightsaber as Luke's, and they say they haven't seen their friend in thirty years, since the events of Return of the Jedi. “So begins a quest to find the missing Jedi Master. Meanwhile, on an ice planet, nefarious forces are building a super weapon, one capable of destroying not planets but entire solar systems.”

The “Star Wars: Episode VII” production is currently on hiatus until the end of August to allow actor Harrison Ford time to recover from an ankle injury.

The upcoming film will star Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow, as well as original Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker.

“Star Wars Episode 7” will be released to theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
