Nicki Minaj Reveals Details Of New Album (VIDEO)

Even with all the reports that Nicki Minaj leaving "American Idol" continues, the rapper said she's even more focused on her third studio album.

According to Billboard, when the rapper sat down with Hot 97's Peter Rosenburg and Ebro Darden, she revealed that her new music will return more to her roots and away from experimenting with pop music as she did in "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded."

"I was thinking If I really wanted to, I could go back in and make another pop song like that to sell but I'm choosing not to do it. I'm choosing to get back to my essence and feed the core hip-hop fan," the "Starships" rapper said. "I feel like I need this because it's just a more powerful platform for me... Even when I'm on stage performing my rap songs, it's more organic."

The 30-year old rapper revealed that she does not regret creating pop songs like "Super Bass" and "Starships." Both singles went to chart in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100.

"I wanted to experiment. My whole career has been a playing field to try new things. I never put a limit on myself," she said. "You should be able to try whatever the hell you want, along as you keep your integrity.

"Nicki Minaj should focus on rap... now."

Though it has not been confirmed, reports indicate Minaj will not be returning to "Idol" next season. Minaj and fellow judge Mariah Carey had been at the center of media attention over their feud. Idol executives have plans to bring in a whole new panel for next season. Randy Jackson announced his departure but the status of Carey and Keith Urban remain unknown.

Minaj's album will reportedly be released sometime this year.
