Florida Man Assaults, Threatens To Kill Girlfriend After Dreaming She Cheated On Him

A Florida man brutally attacked his girlfriend because she cheated on him in a dream he had, police said according to the Miami Herald.

On Thursday night, 27-year-old Carlos Gascon, of North Miami-Dade, reportedly dreamt his girlfriend had an affair. He woke up Friday and terrorized her the entire day- beating her, choking her, slashing her with a knife and even attacking the dog, police said.

The girlfriend was eventually able to call police to her Summerland Key home only after Gascon passed out at around 6:45 p.m. She told officers from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office that Gascon beat her the entire day.

Gascon "cut the back of her leg with a knife, poured hot coffee on her, choked her, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her," Becky Herrin, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, told the newspaper. "He also reportedly picked her up and slammed her down on a glass table, breaking it."

He then turned on his own dog, lifting it up and slamming it into the ground before attempting to crush the dog's neck with his foot," Herrin said.

The unidentified girlfriend told police she thinks Gascon also took her car keys and cellphone and threw them into a canal behind her home.

She told officers her boyfriend "was angry at her because he had a dream she was cheating on him," the Miami Herald reported.

Gascon was arrested and now faces a long-list of charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated battery, domestic battery by strangulation, battery, false imprisonment and animal cruelty.

He is being held on $265,000 bail at the Keys jail.
