A 32-year-old Brazilian man is so obsessed with Michael Jackson that he bleached his skin to look like the late "King of Pop," the Daily Mail recently reported.
Antonio Gleidson Rodrigues- or Gleidson Jackson as he prefers to be called- has been a Michael Jackson impersonator since he was 19. But it's probably safe to say most celebrity impersonators don't inject their skin with hyaluronic acid to look like their favorite celebrity, like Rodrigues reportedly did.
Before the acid treatment, which had a whitening effect on his skin, Rodrigues received cosmetic surgery to alter his nasal septum so he could sing more like Jackson.
"I was able to reach notes like Michael before but after surgery I can now sing some notes in falsetto," Rodrigues, who used to be a drama teacher, said according to the Daily Mail.
The extreme Michael Jackson fan spends hours a day perfecting his dance routine. When he was a drama teacher his students urged him to become a full-time impersonator because he already resembled the pop-music legend he loves so much.
"In my concerts I always say that no copy will ever be as good as the original," Rodrigues said. "But I can always say that I will always try my best to achieve perfection- just like Michael."
Rodrigues spent an estimated $3,000 on other cosmetic procedures, including tattoos on his eyebrows and surgery to close the gaps in his teeth, the Daily Mail reported. But his family is concerned that the time he spends paying homage to his idol is self-destructive.
"I worry for his health," Maria Doriane Bastos de Souza, Rodrigues' aunt, told the newspaper. "I want him to come downstairs and eat a sandwich.
"I also worry when he goes into surgery, I never want him to feel disappointed and sometimes surgery doesn't work out the way you want it to."
The real Jackson, an award-winning singer, songwriter and dancer among other things, was known to have had several plastic surgeries on his face over the years before his untimely death in 2009.
Rodrigues hopes to make enough money so he can have more procedures done, the Daily Mail reported.
"I would like to have my forehead tattooed and have my nose made even slimmer," he said.
