Arnold Schwarzenegger's upcoming Terminator film has had a title change from "Terminator: Genesis" to "Terminator: Genisys," according to media reports.

Arnold Schwarzenegger fans are eagerly awaiting the next installment of the Terminator franchise, which is slated for release later next year. The actor recently took to his Instagram account to share a picture and an update on the upcoming film. He announced that the movie has undergone a title change and will now be named "Terminator: Genisys" rather than "Terminator: Genesis."

"Hasta la vista, baby," reads the caption of the picture. "I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding."

"From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup - we couldn't have done it without you. I can't wait to see our finished project and I know we'll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I'll be back."

No details on what brought about the title change have been revealed yet. However, according to a report released by The Verge, the SYS could indicate technology and systems, so to speak, the logical spelling would have been Genesys, but that's not the case. The site theorized it could be another teaser "where robots assert psychological dominance by arbitrarily changing the spelling of words" or another alternative would be the "I" being "a reference to "Generation I," which is a focus on the individual and those with feelings of entitlement.

In a previous interview, Schwarzenegger spoke about his latest role as the T-800 and how they deal with the actor being that much older.

"Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800, and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets a hold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good," he said.

Directed by Alan Taylor and co-starring Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke, "Terminator: Genisys" will release in the U.S. July 1, 2015 and in the U.K June 26, 2015.
