As Keith Urban prepares to release his new album, he still does not know his future on "American Idol."
"I have no official information of anything," the country singer told the Associated Press. "I'm pretty much in the same boat as everybody else here with the rumors that have been floating around.
"I don't know anything more about what's happening next season. It was like this before I signed on ... so it's not unusual for the 'Idol' folks to be in this place of figuring out what they want to do, then they always pull it together."
According to earlier reports, the executives at Fox want a brand new judging panel for the upcoming season. Longtime judge Randy Jackson announced his departure and it was reported that Nicki Minaj would not be returning as well. No word on the faith of Mariah Carey.
"I did as much as I could in the environment we had," Urban said of the judges said on his fellow judges.
It was reported her last week that former Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson will be signing on as a judge. The same report indicates that they are looking to bring Idol's first winner Kelly Clarkson back to the show too.
While Urban waits on news of his potential Idol return, the 45-year old is keeping himself busy with his brand new album "Fuse" which is set to drop in September.
"It's just been really creatively liberating to me," Urban revealed that he has being working with Jay Joyce, Butch Walker and Nathan Chapman who have worked with such country stars as Taylor Swift, Erich Church and Little Big Town.
"I love collaborating. It's the thing I've always loved doing, whether it's writing or performing or being in the studio," Urban said. "I love the collaborative process. I think finding people's strengths is the thing I love the most."
Urban released his newest song "Little Bit of Everything," the first song off his newest record.
