Amanda Bynes' downward tumble continued Thursday night when she was arrested in New York City for marijuana possession and tampering with evidence but was help on it's way before the events?
Radar Online is reporting that Bynes' parents, Ricki and Lynn, were speaking with lawyers about getting conservatorship for their daughter. Bynes' parents were unsuccessful, as she did not meet the conditions for a conservatorship.
"Rick & Lynn have met with several lawyers that handle conservatorships in the past month, because they want to get a conservatorship of their daughter," the source said. "They have been advised that even as disturbing as Amanda's behavior is, it's very unlikely that a judge would sign off on a temporary conservatorship."
Bynes' erratic behavior has been the center of media attention as of lately. The "Hairspray" star has gotten into fights over Twitter with Jenny McCarthy, posted topless photos of her self and threatened to sue various publications for positing older pictures of her claiming she does not look like that anymore.
The source said it's difficult to acquire a conservatorship "being mentally ill and addicted to drugs isn't enough" and "her parents are absolutely powerless to do anything at this point."
Bynes' parents have also tried to intervene a few months ago but as soon as they spoke to their daughter, she left from Los Angeles to move to New York, "leaving their relationship extremely strained."
Police showed up after a building official saw Bynes speaking to herself and when they called police, she had opened the door and quickly tossed her bong out the window. When she was placed under arrest, Bynes kept yelling "don't you know who I am?"
The 27-year old was taken to Roosevelt hospital where she is being evaluated for her psychiatric condition before she is taken to the police station to be processed.
